Artskills is an innovative project which use the arts as an innovative method to increasing literacy skills whilst being creative and having fun. The course provides training for young people aged 16 - 24 who are not in education, employment(under 16hrs) or training, Digital Photography, Web Design, Performance, Film and Video, Creative Writing and CCEA Literacy are all on offer as part of the free course.
“Offering an alternative to formal education for those who would like to gain qualifications through more creative means, Artskills learning approaches are interactive and participatory” Emma Logue, Artskills Co-ordinator said.
“The benefits of this course are numerous young people will obtain six UK recognized qualifications in Arts, Literacy and ICT Skills, develop their confidence, self esteem and transferable skills as well as having the opportunity to display their work at an end of year showcase. There is also assistance with travel costs, benefits remain unaffected and £100 cash bonus available at the end upon successful completion of the course.”
The Project is funded by The European social fund, The Department of education and learning and The Arts Council.
