Family Support Service

About the service

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers who can help families with young children through challenging times. Being a parent is not easy. It can be lonely, frustrating, heart breaking and over-whelming. Life-changing events can happen to anyone. Home-Start is available to support families through tough times. There is no judgement,  just compassionate, confidential help and expert support.

Every Home-Start volunteer is trained to work alongside you to overcome the challenges you are facing. They work with you to build on your strengths and give you the support you need.

Home-Start Newry & Mourne have a wide range of additional family support service's including:

• Parenting support to families with at least one child aged under 5yrs (home based support) 
• Family support groups for families with children aged under 3yrs 
• Best Start, You and Baby, and Baby Cafe, provide group support for families with children aged under 1yr 
• Baby Steps (an infant mental health programme) for families with children aged under 1yr 
• Multi Sensory room for families with children aged under 5yr
• Ante-natal support for expectant Mums
